Qigong Training can be used to prevent Covid-19 (Video included)

Video link

Now, most of us are isolated at home to deal with the pandemic crisis. Shall we just let it be, or shall we do something to make it better? The valuable experience from China and the development of Chinese medicine give us some options. For example, a research team launched a clinical trial on the effect of Qigong and acupuressure to improve the life quality i.e. QoL of patients with Covid-19 (read more). Qigong is one of the most effective methods to prevent Covid-19. In order to prevent the happening of the infection, we need to improve our Wei Qi and ensure the Wei Qi can function well. I strongly recommend some Qigong practice based on the various benefits of doing Qigong at home. read latest data on Covid-19

1. Qigong benefits stress!

I believe everybody is suffering kinds of stress and worry about the virus and problem-related. In Chinese medicine, the stress can directly stagnate the circulate of Qi, not only the liver but also the Wei Qi. If so, people may have sleep disorders, pain or stiffness, sweating, feeling of cold, and weak immunity.

There is plenty of researches supporting that Qigong helps us to cope with stress. Griffith et al [1] reported that 6-weeks Qigong training was more effective than the people on the waiting-list in reducing stress in hospital staff. No doubt that the hospital personnel is suffering the heaviest stress. There are so many reports on the newspaper and social media about their hard work in China, Italy, Korea, and all over the world. To those isolated people without infection, Qigong surely can help. Wang et al [2] analyzed 2 RCT (randomized control trials) and found out that 1-3 months of qigong exercise reduces stress and anxiety in healthy adults.

2. Qigong benefits immunity

The immunity equals to Wei Qi in TCM. Qigong practice can directly and effectively improve the Zong Qi (lung qi), the spleen and stomach Qi, and the kidney Qi (Qi in Dantian), where are the three resources of the Wei Qi.

Is this true in research?

Sure. Lee et al [3] found out that the endogenous GH released during and immediately after Qi-training mediated the priming events through tyrosine kinase activation in PMNs. Yang et al [4]. examined the effect of 5 months of moderate traditional Taiji and Qigong (TQ) practice to improve the immune response to influenza vaccine in older adults. Their findings indicated a significant increase in the magnitude and duration of the antibody response to the influenza vaccine in TQ participants when compared to controls [4]. Therefore, traditional TQ practice improves the antibody response to the influenza vaccine in the elderly. Chen and Yeung [5] reviewed 13 studies that showed improvements in survival time, immune function, physical strength, and reduced tumor size in patients who practiced Qigong.

All in all, let’s do some Qigong at home!
