A systematic review and meta-analysis conducted by Liu et al[1] showed that scalp acupuncture may be an effective treatment for children with autism spectrum disorder. The systematic review covered 11 trials with 968 participants. Compared with behavioral and educational interventions, scalp acupuncture could decreased the overall CARS scores for children under 3 years old and above 3 years old. Besides, scalp acupuncture could improved PEP-3 scores in communication, physical ability, and behavior.
